One comment on the voltage issue. it still exists if you have a cheap power supply. The voltage issue was 2 part. One was the CPU. The other was manufacturers of cheap power supplies making units that did not meet the rail ratings required by the CPU, i.e. bot meeting the specs for ATX 3.0, even though their specs claimed they did. So make sure you get a brand known for good quality.

Hello Lauri. Thanks a lot for this video and for your time. With release of the new Ultra 9 285k, we are confused now. Need to build PC from the scratch that will be future proof and THE best for lightroom/photoshop photo editing and DJI drone 4k video editing. 14900k or Ultra 9 285k? And is it better to get 24gb Amd 7900 xtx or Nvidia 4090?

For someone who does 2D and 3D illustration work (Clip Studio Paint, Affinity Design/Photo, Blender) and just starting to dabble with 2D animation work (Moho), which would pair better, 14900k/4080 super or 14900k/7900 xtx.

Just due to the great bargain of 14900k plus I wouldn’t have to switch platforms is why I’m willing to give intel a try for this upgrade. I just don’t know which GPU would suffice. I don’t game much anymore, probably once or twice a year 😂

Hi Lauri. This was a great episode. Thanks for all your insight. I was putting together a build list in late spring based on what you then recommended. Since then, Intel has hasd a reliability issue and Asus have had an issue with damaged motherboards out of the box. Also, prices have generally come down and new boards & chips have become available. My use case is for photo editing - Photoshop & Lightroom - but I'd like growth to process videos as I'm thinking of getting a drone. No gaming or 3D rendering! I plan on buing this fall - possibly Black Friday.

Is this still a good plan: Intel 13900K on a ProArt Z790 with Corsair 32GB RAM, an NVIDIA 4070 with 12GB in a Fractal Designs ATX. Am I OK using 2 x Noctua NH-U12A fan cooling or do I deed liquid cooling? Any other tips?

Really enjoy your channel. Such valuable information! I'm a photographer that also makes 4K promo videos. Would like compatibility with apple raw as well if possible. My system is AMD Ryzen 9 3950X, 128 ram, NVidia RTX3070 8GB (should I reuse this in the new system?), I have multiple drives for backup, cache discs, mirrors, ext. I use the Adobe Creative bundle. I want to get a new system, because this one is too slow now. What would be best way to go? Intel or AMD, (is Threadripper a consideration)? My budget is between 2K - 3K. Thanks so much for all the info you provide to us. Super valuable.

I'm using a 5950x with 64gb 3200mhz and a 3080 12gb nvme pci4 for the SO and programs and even if I'm very tempted to go for a 9950x, I don't really push this system enough as to justify the expense. I do 3d modelling and rigging and sometimes some renders. Probably holding up until zen6 or next intel gen for a more meaningful upgrade (and by then I won't care if I need it or not I will just MUST upgrade )

i had a 13700f that intel had to replace they tried to act like it could be something else until i went back and forth then they replaced it with no problem.

So is the 9900x not a good idea for 4k video editing (long renders, not complicated edits overall) + Audio Production + Photo editing? I'm considering the 265K, 9900X, 14700K... the X3d's seem like a bad idea? Will be pairing either with a 4080s or maybe just wait for the 50 series. I will play some games, but don't really feel like I require any focus on that. Games performance should be pretty strong regardless. EDIT: To be clear, this is a new computer from scratch, I have other setups that do not factor in in this case.

No laws, and no accountability in AI yet. When the establishment catches up, there will be no way to reverse any damage. Certain groups will have made boat loads of money during this initial gold rush, and the rest of the masses will be paying for, contributing, and play catch up to something that will affect them more ways than we can imagine today, especially with the gaps between people who believe they can benefit from the tech and people who have no idea what's going on, causing more anxiety. my long 2 cents...
