Yeah, I agree that it felt out of character for Joe to act how he did in this one. It's not impossible that a kid his age would get caught up in the excitement of earning money, but for him to sort of suddenly become so unaware of how he is treating his friends and how they feel about it felt a little overly convenient for the story they wanted to retell. Also, Sam and David totally should have formed a union :P

Silenus is one of my fav characters, he just wanders around off his face not knowing anything, and the way Dionysus comes to pick him up like he's a lost pet cracked me up. i thought it was great how the show showed the dehumanising effects of creating an organisation with the primary aim of profit for profit's sake! what you mentioned about the family being turned to gold as an addition to the story was interesting. when i was a kid i read the Midas myth somewhere and it definitely had the last straw being the family turned to gold. Maybe in-between Ovid and Wishbone that part got added in over time? It makes sense if you want the story to have a more allegorical feel to it, rather than the more visceral (and maybe more Greek/Roman?) emphasis on literally starving to death as a consequence of foolishness.

Wishbone as Midas trying to eat that grape is one clip of the show that I've always remembered. Wanda in that clip trying to juggle all those grocery bags has been me.

I still love the show to this day but after my dog passed away I will think of the show but I can’t/watch the show because I’m sad that my dog died but watching reviews of the show is OK because I’m not watching the show.
