The cookies there are as appealing as the coffee! The owner of the coffee shop is nice and welcoming!
When I watch this video, the sound is normal, don't worry too much!
Better late than never, one more step in my knowledge of Istanbul, thanks Mac for sharing! 👍😀🙌

It was a Byzantine cathedral since 537AD the city was conquered in 1453 by Fatih Sultan Mehmet he was only 21 years old and the cathedral was converted to a mosque until 1931 when it turned into museum the back to a mosque in 2020.

Thank you Mac for taking time out to show us the culture and history of Istanbul. It’s great seeing the food and shopping in vlogs but it’s really important to also show the culture of a country or city, it is a sign of respect so well done. The Hagia Sophia was a church then used as a mosque and it still looks like a church as the architecture is typical of churches built during that period. Great vlog 🙏👍❤️

Hagia Sophia is the oldest building of its type. An Orthodox Church with marvelous architecture and beauty.

The city was captured in 1453 by Sultan Fatih Mehmet Han. As the city was not handed over to the Sultan, it is down to the new rulers discretion as to the purpose of the building. In this case it was converted to a Mosque and then later in the 1900 was changed to a museum and then recently reverted back to a Mosque.

There is no corraversy. Hagia Sophia has returned back to a Mosque as the Sultan had decided many centuries ago.

The Mosques were very interesting to see the different architecture. In the years when they were built, it is amazing they have so much detail. That cat sleeping on the bench must have been fast asleep as it didn't budge when you touched it.

Historic Hagia Sophia Church
Built in 537 AD, during the reign of the Roman Emperor Justinian I, the Christian cathedral was at that time the largest building in the world and the first to use a fully suspended dome. The building is considered a jewel of Byzantine architecture.

I was at the Hagia Sophia in 2001 and don't remember taking off my shoes. I think that was because it was considered a museum. I did have to at the Blue Mosque though.I also had to wrap some cloth around my legs because I was wearing shorts.

Hagia Sophia was a cathedral originally during the Byzantine empire, then became a mosque after the Ottoman took over.
