Less than two weeks after Bashar el-Assad fled Damascus for Moscow and the IDF destroyed the bulk of the Syrian air, naval, missile, and research and development power, future prospects for Syria both internally and externally remain vague.

Who will eventually control it? Will Syria become a sovereign nation in fact and not only in title, as it was when Assad’s rule rested on Russian and Iranian support? Will Turkey call the shots? Much appreciation for TV7's thoughtful discussions and diverse points of view. I personally think that in Syria, an opportunity for a unification of the Druze, Christians in the south could be a desirable, perhaps collectively becoming an adjunct of Israel (falling under the protection / umbrella of Israel). Additionally, with strong diplomacy with Turkey, having a sector in the north for the Kurds to flourish...I can dream! Blessings to all, from Seattle, USA

What would it take for Israel or Jordan to 'legally' annex the Druz area of southern Syria? I added quotes to legally because I figure the UN would have to approve of the annexation, just as it did in 1947 for Israel. Lots of issues there.

P.S. I think Israel should keep the Mt Hermon territory it now occupies. That will create the same issues as the Golan as well as add to the long list on anti Israel resolutions at the UN. Possession is 9/10ths of the law. Add the Druz area, even better.
