More baby boomers facing bankruptcy in retirement

A new study reveals a jarring truth for baby boomers. Instead of retirement and relaxation, many are facing bankruptcy. More than 12 percent of those who file for bankruptcy protection are over 65, a figure that was just over 2 percent in 1991.

The PBS and BBC is not allowing comments on this so I commit here. Half of congress is over the age of 65 and they control the laws. They are not baby boomers; I am in the oldest boomer class. I have repeatedly expressed concern that my children were being treated unfairly on education loans and employment. That did no good because of the fat cats that control the economy. F. Miller

CBS, you should have been talking about this '3 decades' ago. And the reasons WHY pensions were done away with, and perhaps a case for WHY pensions should be reinstated as a corporate norm.

Why don`t they try harder, they need a better attitude i.e. sale your house and rent a room.

It's inaccurate to say household income is flat over the past 30 years without also mentioning that households have changed dramatically over that same time. It's not an apples to apples comparison. Either lazy or dishonest reporting.

They should give all the boomers a pension. Went they started working they where spending their money because they thought they where going to get a pension. But they removed at the last minute and they had not saved enough by then. It's kinda not fare.

The younger generations just like to point fingers, go get a job lazy. That is what we did as babyboomers, we worked and paid our taxes and the smart ones saved for the future. Oh and by the way I get one of them pensions, they are awesome.
