Why do some migration projects succeed, while others fail to reach their goals? Whether migrating Oracle Forms to ADF, APEX, or more exotic technologies, the difference between success and failure often lies in finding ways to migrate smarter, not harder. Even after being on this migration road so many times, whenever our migration teams start a new project, they have to make sure again and again that they can answer "yes" to the same old questions:
Will the new technologies offer a better user experience?
Will they ensure proper technical solutions for the complex software system requirements?
Will the users be so thrilled by the modern screens that they will not miss any of the eventually deprecated antique features?
Will the project be a success - completed on time, within budget, and with all quality standards satisfied?
We're not pretending to have answers to all possible questions, but we've had the chance to deal with most migration challenges and have learned the core aspects that we should never lose sight of.
