So the lion king live action was hyped up just for people to be disappointed with the lack of emotion put into the movie. So my hypothesis is that people don’t want to spend money on a soulless cash grab meant to milk them for more money.

Keep in mind they removed one of the most famous songs by Scar in Lion King live action films. Now they think they all that and wanted to drop a movie nobody asked for? They deserve the L for butchering the films.

I mean outside of older Disney fans kids don't care about Lion King. My kids don't care about Lion King. My oldest who's 5 loves Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Banjo-kazooie and Sonic. He doesn't give a damn about Lion King. My daughter loves Disney princess's but that's it from Disney. (Unless you count Bluey). Ps my kids only like Lion king 1/2 because of the best characters in the Franchise.

Ontop of that I am a volunteer youth leader at my church with over 300 kids weekly. I cannot speak for the girls. But the boys don't care about Lion King. They care more about Sonic or Keanu Reaves. I acctuly spoke with kids who don't even know what Lion King is.

Im just mentioning all this as Lion King doesn't have the family pull it used to have. Sonic has gained that pull and status.

The budget usually includes the marketing costs for most projects, so more like 100m for production and 100m for advertisement. And yeah, most prohjecfs have advertisement be the most costly of all
