The deer in the part of Washington State where I live love my hydrangeas. Last fall I placed poles around the hydrangeas and circled them with fishing line at level where deer would like to munch on them. So far everything is good. The deer also come down the stairs right up to my back door to eat roses from my potted rose bush. We startle them all the time but they still come back.

I've done the Irish Spring, have a cage around hollies that they eat through. Our deer number about 24 and eat everything in their path.

In South East England we've also had really unseasonably warm weather (the warmest New Year's Day on record), but it suddenly dipped to 30F last night, and tonight our forecast is for 23F. Up North it's meant to be much colder than that. We are roughly equivalent to Zone 8a here.

I bount a Hoont sonic detergent off Amazon and it has worked.

I had problems with deer but got a systemic deer repellant which works. Can't remember the name.. Pour it into the ground. Got it from Amazon.
Also used hair from my dog's coat and stuffed it in the Bushes. I save it when I brush them.
How do I deal with leaf cutter bees? They stripped my rose leaves down to the stems. Systemics don't seem to work as they don't EAT the leaves. They use them for their nests.

You lost me minutes in… my NJ deer LOVE my hydrangeas and come up to my house to eat them. These deer aren’t afraid of people at all. They love the smell of Irish Spring and eat plants right next to it. What works for me? I spray Liquid Fence in the summer. But their winter hunger has them eating EVERYTHING.

I've had deer come up on my back steps on my teeny porch to eat flowers out of pots. My yard has nothing but grass because of the deer. They don't care about us or our dog.

We can also use human hair and put it by the plants, they don't like it, specially on roses.
