I'm really curious to see what, if any, effect hitboxes will have on the design and balance of fighting games going forward as we seem them gain a larger adoption rate. Originally, fighting games were played with joysticks because that was just the standard hardware for arcade cabinets. Special move inputs were a way to eat quarters that eventually became intentional balance decisions as archetypes became codified. As archetypes start to break down with the hitboxes ability to bypass their weaknesses, I wonder what we will see in fighting games future.

To everyone in the comments, you will find the most success using what is most comfortable to you. Stick, hitbox, controller, keyboard it doesn’t matter. Hitbox wont win you EVO.

Careful with your wrists, make sure you're not pressing your palm onto the box, I got major wrist issues from the hitbox because I wasn't floating my hands above it

I've actually started using my keyboard for V cause I was honestly curious about how the game plays on keyboard. I still suck but... Man doing ceartin inputs has been way easier than before

Personally i started this game on a keyboard, got really good on one, then switched to stick cuz the little kid in me said so. So...in a sense keyboards are hitboxes, i say this because keyboard mapping on sf5 is litterally trash you simply coudln't use certain keys to rebind to which was really frustrating cuz it just made you play a certain way and you honestly couldn't use certain characters u were limited...like fang for example x3 punch on keyboard locks out keyboard, unless u bind it to one button which u could do but you would then have to do this whenever you played a certain character...it was dumb, so if u wanna make it work properly or to your likings u gotta use a 3rd party program for key binding, because from my experience on a keyboard if u hold down 3 keys it locks everything out, via why u need a 3rd party program to make it work properly, anyways with the fix it basicly acts like a hitbox I would assume even though i havn't used one or plan on it cuz i dont need a handicap. Personally I have more fun with an arcade stick and can also say the games easier for me on keyboard even though i prefer to play on a stick, I'll also say the reason I assume keyboards play like a hitbox is the whole how u guys do the foward, down down motion or w/e for a super on hitbox...LITERALLY same thing on keyboard, On a competitive level i get it. play fire with fire, by all means

I'm not able to do this on keyboard, apparently it works on a different way for keyboard inputs.
I thought I was doing something wrong, but I tested it on Strive and I can do it there, so the issue is SFV.
Too bad for me I guess, I'm thinking of buying or making a leverless controller anyways.

Is he inputting a double quarter circle by holding forward and tapping down back twice, which gets read as 62626?

I'm trying that out on my Hitbox and it feels much more awkward than just the normal input.
