I actually think the fact that you're bilingual helps a lot! First of all you're able to explain everything in English which is essential for beginners! And 2nd you can compare the languages and realise whats the best way to teach some of the more complex elements!

I do have a certified Finnish teacher who is teaching me the language. However, I enjoy your videos as well and do find them helpful. You kind of give the vibe of someone else that is also learning the language, even though you are fluent in Finnish, which makes your videos easy to grasp and it provides motivation for me to study harder

You are really helping me to 'bring back my Finnish' from long ago. I lived in Helsinki 1958-1964 and went to The English School there on Mäntytie, with the American Sisters of the Holy Heart. Playing with friends I spoke Finnish and at home Dutch. So I grew up trilingual. Now I visit Finland every now and then (a life-long relationship 😍 with Finland!) and your FANTASTIC lessons have helped me a ton!!! Thank you so much. I very much enjoy the 'modest way' you teach about the language, the culture and the people.

I started watching in 2017. My family and I were preparing for a trip to Finland and I was trying hard to learn some things about the country (especially some of the language). We loved that trip, and we visited Helsinki again the following year & loved that trip too. Your videos were extremely helpful and informative.

You have a gift for teaching a complicated subject in a way that’s manageable for your listeners & students, engaging in a way that keeps them wanting to learn more, and straightforward enough that they feel they’re making progress & building momentum. I’m envious of your ability to speak your native languages so effortlessly, and I’m grateful that you’re sharing your knowledge with us.

You have excellent credentials to teach us too, and anyone who suggests otherwise is either jealous of your accomplishments or angry at the world. Or both.

You are a Native teacher..It's ok you understand english or another language as a barrier or better said like a background to explain a difficult language like finnish. As a native Finnish speaker, your bilingual perspective on how Finnish works and how you explain it in English is really interesting to me. My understanding of English is close to native level, I believe, but I definitely wouldn't be able to explain such things in English like a native level speaker.

Also, I like how you do it on an "amateur" basis and aim for "edutainment" (so to speak). There are a lot of academic style descriptions of Finnish, but not so much material like you make.

I've been studying Finnish for almost 4 years and your channel was the first one I found and is still one of the most helpful.
And it's really weird that you get haters. You teach Finnish language and culture, you're an all around kind person, I haven't seen you say anything remotely controversial. I remember a while back some people were weirdly offended that you had a sponsor? It was like they were jealous that you were making money on something they had access to for free and still could watch for free.
