YouTube's idea of a natural break is pretty bad. YouTube does allow you to specify exactly how many and where you want a mid-roll ad to play after you've finished uploading the video. My CPM averages $7.50 for my niche, and I wish more people would just tell it like it is for anyone who's considering doing something similar. How much I get paid depends on how many views I get in the month and how many ads get watched in my hour long videos beyond the first ones. I average about 500-600 views per day even when I haven't uploaded anything in a month or more. I'm not quitting my day job, but it's nice to have a little income stream on the side, like the interest earned from a savings account.

What about people who subscribe to YouTube and pay for no ads? If they watch your video they won’t see ads, so the creator earns no money, correct? That seems counter productive for YouTube and its creators.
