Our Study Tips Shorts will help you become a GREAT STUDENT by making small but super-effective changes.

๐™Ž๐™๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฉ ๐™๐™ž๐™ฅ 4: Want a more organic way to build your vocabulary? Expose yourself to a new kind of book. If you're reading the same kind of book all the time, you won't be exposed to new ideas (and new words used to describe them). Venture a little our of your comfort zone.
For example, in Agatha Christie you'll pick up the words "surreptitious, malevolence, and treacherous." In Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, you'll find useful words like "scrupulous, supercilious, and impertinent."

We also have a playlist with full-length videos about how to be a better student, whether you're in high school, college, or learning on your own.

Neuroscientist Maryanne Wolf, in her book "Reader, Come Home" notes that due to regular Internet use, many of us have become "skimmers of data" and that regular reading becomes difficult. The brain is fairly plastic and flexible, though. You can retrain yourself in about two weeks. Try 1) books you've read in the past, 2) books consisting of short chapters (short stories, anthologies, etc.), and 3) books that are "too easy" - written for a slightly younger age group.

Few years ago I read a book by the philosopher W. V. Quine. It was the first primary text on philosophy I had ever read, and oh my god was it dense. 100 pages in two weeks, and I'm usually quick, but now I have vis-a-vis and de re under my belt, where they'll never be used in polite company.

Yah or I could read contemporary works by brown and black people that are more relevant to the human condition that teaches lessons about power and itโ€™s consequences.
