Just finished (with 80% overal completion) the game and was happy with the game (also liked the previous one) and couldn't agree more with you. The scripted events didn't bother me though occasionally it caught me off guard, stability wasn't an issue until the final hour (depending on how fast you do it) as i was running it on near max settings and had the occasional frame drop. Still have to go through the endurance mode to see what that's about. As long as you care about doing the "optional tombs" (give nice perks/skills/talents) and collecting some of the stuff it will keep you entertained quite long.
