Muammar Gaddafi

Muammar Gaddafi was the leader of Libya who came to power in a military coup in 1969. He ruled an authoritarian regime for 42 years. During Gaddafi's leadership, strong state structures were established in Libya on the basis of the "People's Power" doctrine and the manifesto called the Green Book. He was radical and controversial in foreign policy; It has frequently experienced tensions with the West and has been associated with terrorism. He was removed from power as a result of the popular uprisings that started in Libya during the Arab Spring in 2011. Gaddafi fled with his family but was captured and killed. With his death, political chaos and instability began in Libya.
