I see someone was smart enough to put a drain plug in it😊.

It would seem one should use stainless bolts where ever a portion of the bolt comes in contact with coolant.

Are you restoring the car?
Army Jeep Parts sells the best primer and flat black and army color paint ever. (CARC replacement)
It cleans up super easy too.
Not a rep. Just a customer.
That and phosphoric acid. The two biggest "secrets" in the paint department, imo. 🎉🎉

i had a friend who had seen the days of chopping roadsters and he informed me that before paint they would etch the steel and derust it for phosphoric acid and then a water bath.
i read (red) the science somewhere, and its true, i use it all the time for de-rusting.
It creats a microscopic layer of light "anodizing" on the surface of the steel and prevents it from re-rusting as fast.

Which makes sense. If a soul was chopping their Ford they could perform the operation outside, and even if that shell stripped of paint got surface rusty, they could give it a phosphoric acid wash, and it would make the car like clean bare steel again. ❤❤❤❤

Cheers! i live in the northeast. Without phosphoric acid my 20 year old work van would be a pile of rust!

McMaster Carr has a good selection of "exotic" bolt types.
Not a fan of stainless. If they decide to gall they will tear up your threads.

i would rather see a bronze bolt threaded into a casting. OS&Y valves for fire protection use them all the time. 🎉🎉
