REPOST • During the summer of 1994, TF1 broadcasts every week in prime time a portrait of a deceased personality, in the series "Destins Brisés". On the occasion of the episode devoted to Michel Berger, who died 2 years earlier, France Gall agreed to discuss the artist, songwriter, his work, but also the man he was, who shared his life for 18 years and with whom she founded her family. The sudden death of Michel, when they had just released their first album sung as a duet and were about to give a series of concerts in Paris and on tour, plunged France into deep disarray. Her priority will be to deal with the grief of her children. A few months later will come the need for music, not to bury this album she loved so much, and to sing on stage. She alone will assume the dates at Bercy initially planned for two. They were to constitute the end of the French-speaking tour for the couple, “Double Jeu”. They will ultimately be the kick-off for her tour on her own, “Simple Je”. A show that she will want sober, dignified, intimate despite the size of the venues it visits, surrounded by their loyal musicians with whom they created this latest album. France Gall will be very happy to prepare this show, and, while a few years ago, she thought she would never sing again, she already plans to create another. The tour ends at the gates of winter 1993. After a concert in Dakar with the same team in February 1994, she will take time to reflect.
For this brand new singing tour that she hopes to put on for the summer, France has desires for different sounds, flirting a little with hip hop, A new orientation on her husband's compositions, which will be difficult for her to ask their musicians who have played it so often. Their path separates, not without emotion. And it is with a brand new team that she will perform in September 1994, in Belgium, Switzerland, and France, for a tour of small rooms, for which she will choose to do a minimum of promotion. The Parisian stopover will take place at the Salle Pleyel, that she is the first pop singer to reinvest, the place having long been closed to contemporary music. The show will not be filmed. Only testimony: an album recorded at Pleyel and which will be released ten years later.

À l’occasion de l’épisode consacré à Michel Berger décédé 2 ans auparavant, France Gall a accepté d’évoquer l’artiste, auteur-compositeur, son travail, mais aussi l’homme qu’il était, qui a partagé sa vie durant 18 ans et avec lequel elle a fondé sa famille. La disparition brutale de Michel, alors qu’ils venaient de sortir leur premier album chanté en duo et s’apprêtaient à donner une série de concerts à Paris et en tournée, a plongé France dans un profond désarroi. Sa priorité sera de gérer le chagrin de ses enfants. Quelques mois plus tard s’en viendra le besoin de musique, de ne pas enterrer cet album qu’elle aimait tant, et de chanter sur scène. Elle assumera seule les dates à Bercy initialement prévues à deux. Elles devaient constituer la fin de la tournée francophone pour le couple, “Double Jeu”. Elles seront finalement le coup d’envoi de sa tournée à elle seule, “Simple Je”. Un spectacle qu’elle voudra sobre, digne, intimiste malgré la grandeur des salles qu’il visite, entourée de leurs fidèles musiciens avec lesquels ils avaient créé ce dernier album. France Gall aura beaucoup de bonheur à préparer ce spectacle, et, alors que quelques années auparavant, elle pensait ne plus jamais chanter, déjà elle projette d’en créer un autre. La tournée s’achève aux portes de l’hiver 1993. Après un concert à Dakar avec la même équipe en février 94, elle prendra le temps de la réflexion. Pour ce tout nouveau tour de chant qu’elle espère monter pour l’été, France a des envies de sonorités différentes, flirtant un peu avec le hip hop, Une orientation nouvelle sur les compositions de son mari, qui lui sera difficile à demander aux musiciens qui l’ont jouée si souvent. Leur chemin se sépare, non sans émotion. Et c’est avec une toute nouvelle équipe qu’elle se produira dès septembre 1994, en Belgique, en Suisse, et en France, pour une tournée de petites salles, pour laquelle elle choisira de faire un minimum de promotion. L’étape parisienne se fera à la salle Pleyel, qu’elle est la première chanteuse pop à réinvestir, le lieu ayant été longtemps fermé à la musique contemporaine. Le spectacle ne sera pas filmé. Seul témoignage : un album enregistré à Pleyel et qui sortira dix ans plus tard.
