When I was younger I had a Lego set that came with Venom. He was my favorite Lego figure, until one sad day. That day I lost the figure, and I haven't seen him in years. If Toy Story is real and my Venom figure is reading this, please come back.

It's crazy to think that a story bought for only $200 turned into one of the most popular Villians in history.

Venom was the first Marvel main villain introduced to me.

Eddie Brock may have eventually rejected the Venom symbiote and later became Anti-Venom and then later became Toxin in the Mainstream Marvel comics, but in my eyes Eddie Brock will always be the one true Venom.

As someone who doesn't read to comics but loves the characters, they are super helpful.

Btw, I'm the kind of person who has to read from issue 1 in order to get into a story, and obviously thats way too expensive.

Awesome video as always, Arris. Helping me learn about heroes and villains, and getting me into comics. Ever happy I subscribed! :D

So Venom is basically Peter Parker's jilted ex-lover.  Wow. That kind of ruins the mistique.

Wow. You are going to just completely ignore that Eddie Brock Venom was not in fact a villain at all, and only wanted to kill Spiderman because Venom thought that Peter Parker was evil? And how he spent several years with his own comic series as the Protagonist in Lethal Protector, The Mace, Funeral Pyre, Separation Anxiety, and more? That is a HUGE part to leave out. I understand that you are limited by time, but wow. That is practically half his history right there. Spent as a hero. Not a villain. Yes he is a murderer, and the symbiote pushes the limits of his sanity, but his priorities are always focused on saving innocents. Especially as Anti-Venom, who  sacrificed himself in order to save the world. I just think that it is unfair to call Venom a villain when the Eddie Brock version has done nothing but try to help people.

The "Spider-Man" animated series in the 90s' would add that the symboite wasn't just bonding with Spider-Man, it was making him evil too. This was such a good idea that almost every future adaptation of Venom's origin would go with that angle, to the point where younger fans are surprised to find it wasn't part of the original storyline.

I get that I'm REALLY late to this, but what about that Angelo guy? He was once a host for Venom, but one day, the Symbiote just left him while in mid-web swing and left him to fall to his death.

On the PS1, Venom and Spidey start working together after having fought eachother in the Spider-Man games. I kinda hoped this would come true in the movies.

Thanks for the reading suggestions at the end there! It's always so hard to try and chase these things up over decades of continuity;D

I would love a History of Deathstroke and Harley Quinn since they are 2 of my favorite DC villains, and  I would LOVE a Versus episode, Talya Al Ghul vs Black Widow, Make it happen Arris!!

Arris I would love to see you do a history of Invincible! It makes sense in so many ways to me,
1. Using an Image character would switch up the normal DC and Marvel roster.
2. Invincible #108 was not only an amazing issue but a definite game changer for the series.
3.Invincible issue #111 is said to be relaunching the series in a new direction and is a good jumping on point for new readers.

Even though I've been a fan of Spider-man since long before Venom's time and knew most of what you talked about in this video already, there is one thing I had never realized until I heard you mention the symbiote's imprisonment and Carnage being created through asexual reproduction a few minute's apart; these two story points are mutually incompatible as the symbiote could never have polluted the gene pool of its race by virtue of the fact that polluting a gene pool requires sexual reproduction.
