Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi's comment that the caste census would be like an ""X-ray"" that would give details of various communities in the country, Akhilesh Yadav sarcastically asked, ""Why X-ray when there is availability of new technology like MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and CT (computed tomography) scan?""
Challenging the Congress's current stance on advocating for a nationwide caste-based survey, the ex-Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh questioned why the party did not undertake a caste census during its time in power. He alleged that the grand old party is now supporting a nationwide caste-based survey as a strategic move to attract voters from the lower strata of society in anticipation of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The president of the Samajwadi Party emphasized that the completion of a caste census within three months is feasible, citing the availability of the Aadhaar card mechanism.
