Good job girls. 👏 Back in the day they probably thought women wouldn't be strong enough to handle the profession so it was considered a man's job. Y'all get out there and show them.

Yes!! When I went to mortuary college in the '70's, approx. 10% were women students. In mortuaries, I saw no women FD's & very few embalmers. Women have been pigeonholed as clerks, receptionists, attendants, & counselors in FH's until the '80's. Today, there are probably more women than men in this field. Women have proven to be as proficient as men in complex analytical situations & can carry their own weight. Also, women are instinctively detail oriented in a business which demands attention to details.

When I shadowed my local FD in high school he told me I would never get a job in the industry because it wasn't a womens profession. I guess it made sense to my 17 year old self because I assumed he was right and never pursued it after that. I love this video so much, and I wish I could show it to my teenage self! Maybe when my kiddos are older I'll come back around. That guy has since retired and the new owner is good friends with my in-laws! 😁

Go ladies. Here in Australia we have a franchise called "white lady funerals" and we seem to have a very huge presence of females in the industry across the country. Luv ya work ladies huge respect.

Someday in one of your videos it would be interesting to know why you think the number of women in the business has grown so much. How might it change the funeral industry in the future?

You see more female doctors now than you did 50 years ago too.
