Apple just announced a couple of new iPads. The entry-level, eighth-generation iPad goes on sale on Friday and has been updated with Apple's A12 chip. Let's see what comes in the box.

If you don't mind:
An Ipad Air 3 without laminated screen and 10.2 screen, BT4.2, lower color view performance and smaller megapixel of camera.

Conclusion: Ipad Air 3 lite

Advantage : cheaper price, fast charge solution(20w), a12(with m12), 10.2 inches (not laminated), stereo speakers (for normal usage), support apple pencil 1st/2nd gen with keyboard supported.

This tablet is very convincing and a good budget worth to spend (128gb version + wifi ).

Why is it okay for Apple to release a tablet in 2020 with a 2018 chip and get a pass but when Samsung does it on a lower midrange smartphone, its the 1st con we hear reviewers point out.

64 gb should be the bare minimum storage option for any devices in 2020

They cannot put USC-C on this one because if they were to put type C then they will have to add apple pencil second generation support which requires that flat(ish) design to connect and charge the pencil because 1st gen pencil requires lightning port to connect itself with ipad.

I am new to iPad and all I wanted is an iPad that is good for reading slides, writing notes and reading papers. I am a PhD student and basically my usage is limited to looking at scientific papers and writing notes, etc.

What model and screen size should I be looking at? What pencil should I buy?
