Nights in White Satin - The Moody Blues

"Nights in White Satin" was released in 1967 on the Days of Future Passed album by the Moody Blues. Written by Justin Hayward at 19 after he was gifted satin bedsheets from his girlfriend the song tells the story of yearning from afar for forbidden love.
Considered one of the first truly progressive rock albums, it initially performed poorly.
However, in 1972, the song was reissued, going on to peak at number 2 on the Billboard chart, kept from the top spot by "I Can See Clearly Now" by Johnny Nash.
