Did you know that in HEREDITARY

Did you catch the reference to Halloween in Hereditary? At around fourteen minutes into the film, Peter is shown in class and you can see “Escaping Fate” written on the chalkboard as the teacher discusses it. This was an intentional reference to Halloween, where the main character also sits through a class where this same topic is being discussed. Fittingly, Hereditary was also released the same day that the trailer for the 2018 reboot of Halloween released!

I saw it as foreshadowing for the later events. You can see an ad for a psychic get delivered. The cult would've just kept trying to get them & because of the flaws of the characters, eventually succeed.

it is harrowing as it unfolds delivering that there's no escape, and even the starring leads become impotent to fight or flee, but fallen while the even more ominous invisible and intrusive force of Mammon takes over, no happy ending

I think his teachers and most of his friends and classmates were all members of the cult. They were leaving nothing to chance. Just look how the young girl looks at him. You might think it is romantically, but in fact, I think it is more in a subservient, worshipful way.
