I know the difference between a therian and a furry, and I know therians aren’t a choice. There are so many people saying that being a therian isn’t a choice, and I know!!! I’m not a fake, and I hope people realize that therians can also be furrys by choice. Sorry if it looks like I think that you can just be a Therian, but It doesn’t work like that at all.

Theriotypes: ragdoll cat, orange cat, grey cat, black wolf, Maine coon, black cat, cheetah, and a fox.

What I do: hunt plushies, read books, try to make therian friends, ignore haters and be kind to others.

What I don’t do: overreact to haters, being racist to people, being hateful to others, being inappropriate is a big no!

What I will do in the future: bring my tail to school (once I get one), make a clan once I get a few more therian friends, and learn how to do high jumps.

What is a therian?:

Therian (th-ear-e-an)
Word: noun

THERIAN.
A person who identifies as a non-human animal on a psychological or spiritual level based on animalistic urges and/or behaviors.

“Can you choose to be a therian?/ choose your theriotype?”
No, like gender and sexuality, it is strictly an identity that you can discover in yourself.

“How do I find out if I’m a therian/ what my theriotype is?”
Based on animalistic behaviors/urges. Example: the urge to bite, hunt, or jump. Many therians also experience mental shifts, which is an experience in which an individual’s mind may be more animalistic. Or phantom shift, in which you feel like you have the limbs of your theriotype. Also dream shifts, where you are your theriotype in your dream.

“Do all therians have past life’s?”
No. Past life’s is normally from spiritual therians.

“Why do therians wear/make gear? And what is it?”
Gear is an object/ accessory that many therians use to feel more like their theriotype. Some examples are: collars, masks, hair clips, painted rocks, feathers, necklaces, art, objects of relation.

“Is being a therian a mental disorder?”
No. It is an identity similar to your gender and sexuality. However, therianthropy can cause anxiety and depression because of species dysphoria.

“What is species dysphoria?”
Species dysphoria, similar to gender dysphoria, it is when an individual experiences feelings regarding their species. The individual will tend to look at themselves or their theriotypes and feel a strong want to be their theriotype. Species dysphoria, if severe enough, may cause depression and anxiety.

“Do therians use litter boxes or leashes?”
No. Therians do not use litter boxes. and if you believed the rumor, you are rather naïve, as the rumor stemmed because some schools have litter boxes in case of school shootings, or service animals. Though some therians may wear collars or leads because it feels more affirming of their identity for them.

“What is quadrobics?”
Quadrobics is a sport in which people run on all fours (hence the word quads), normally to race. Though many therians do this sport as it feels affirming to their identity.

“What is the difference between therians and furries?”
Unlike therians, furries do not identify as the animal they dress up as. Furries are merely people who take interest in anthropomorphic animals and wear costumes.

“Are therians z00philes?”
No. Therians do not use their identity as an excuse to do activities like that. and many therians are against and hate z00philes.

“What is the difference between psychological therians and spiritual therians?”
Spiritual therians tend to believe in past life’s, and may use methods such as meditation to connect to their past life’s. Psychological therians are more mind based, and may have a harder time figuring out their theriotype.

“How specific can the identity get?”
Very. You can go as far as figuring out exact species pelt color, skin color, eye color, if it’s albino or has some other sort of color variation. But not all therians can figure out all of that, and may only be able to figure out what their family is.

Otherhearted: identifying WITH a creature instead of AS a creature. Example: dragon-hearted.

Otherkin: identifying as a creature such as a dragon.

Were: an old term that used to be used to refer to theriotypes, derived from were-wolves, this term is rarely used.

Coping-links: people who choose to identify as an animal or creature to help cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, or day-to-day struggles. It is NOT the same as therianthrope or otherkin.

Polytherian: having more than one theriotype

Cladotherian: identifying as a whole group rather than a specific species. Example: identifying as a bird rather than a crow or magpie.

Contherian: a therian who’s animal and human side are intertwine and don’t experience shifts as they are constantly stable on both sides.

Awakening: the process of someone discovering and realizing they are alterhuman.

Anti: someone who is actively against alter humans, and tend to seek out content created by them to ridicule and hate on them.

* Some therians don’t have shifts
* We can’t help our shifts/animalistic urges
* We’re not mentally ill
* Don’t support us if you’re going to like us one day then dislike us the next.
* Don’t bark/meow at us in public
* If we’re doing quads in public, leave us be! It takes a lot of guts.
* Do not tackle furries in public, they’re doing nothing wrong.
* Therianthropy is not something we can change or control
* Barking at us makes YOU the animal
* Teenagers these days are not “messed up” just because they are different than you
* A therian is not the same as a furry!
* Don’t say: imagine how their parents think OR this is why you have no dad.. because when you say this they might not have a family and it’s cruel
* Just because we like to dress up and have fun in nature does not mean we are fatherless

1) I like vocals like 'yip' and 'rh' which are high-pitched
2) I love around dusk time at 5:30pm and stuff where it starts to get dark
3) I love either really warm weather or cold and rainy/thunder
4) My favourite quadrobics to do are running and long and high combo jump
5) I love pork, but also fruit like strawberries and passion fruit
6) I've always wanted to go to a desert and just play around and stuff, I also love fields and rocky areas, and woods. So like areas with lots of stuff to do in them? Idk how to explain 😭
7) I love tails but I'm not a massive fan of masks
8) I don't feel domesticated because I hate feeling trapped and not free

I might be both, u wanna know why?there are two types of therians, the brave one expresses them selves any where they are in public, then here comes the shy therian.The shy therian is an type of therian that doesn’t express them selves in public, they mostly do it in their back yard when they are alone, or they might just do quads in there house if they are mostly alone.So I think the oldest one is the one that expresses themselves in public and the younger might be the one that does quads in their house or backyard!

May be both! Two types of therians: the brave and free one, the brave and free one usually always expresses themselves as a therian in any way even in public! Then there’s the shy and shielded therian, this one usually doesn’t express themselves in public but expresses themselves at home alone. They may just not do it at all, maybe they just hide it!
