RPGs are one of the greatest video game genres, but sometimes they don't quite make sense. Here are some funny reasons why.

My favorite is "this wooden door is locked and I'm not skilled enough to open it" I'M LITERALLY CARRYING A MINI NUKE LAUNCHER

Another one that gets me is the stamina system in some games, you can literally run for miles on end without ever tiring but do 3 evade moves in a fight and you are gassed lol

I find it funny how every piece of armor / clothing you loot or find is magically a perfect fit for your character regardless of height and weight.

About the "avoiding the main quest" issue, I like how Dragon's Dogma approaches it. The antagonist (obviously, a Dragon) do not attack you or the world (kinda), he just sits on a mountain and awaits for you, saying that "the choice (to challenge him) falls not to me (him) or to the whims of fate... it is yours alone"

Well, no hurries then.

One thing that bothered me especially in Skyrim is that the NPC’s just refuse to acknowledge your intimidating presence. I Remember being in full daedric armor menacing as shit and they just talk mad shit to you completely oblivious to the fact that you are technically a god and with one button you could end their line of code

Adding things to the metal while forging is a common practice actually, adding items such as bone (like the vikings did) adds carbon to the metal, which makes for a more durable and effective end product

The eating healing items might not be “yeah, yeah, I’ll wait”. It might be “wtf?!” and they’re frozen in fascination/horror as you down all the food 🤣🤣

One of my favorite time exploits is when someone joins you for a specific quest then leaves you after it is done. But if you never complete the quest you have a companion for life. Some games got wise to this and limit how far your companion can go, but not all.

This whole video was made because Falcon's been playing Skyrim and Fallout again and got annoyed. I love it

I remember once in Baldur's Gate while financing my world saving endeavors by looting people's houses, I used the Cloak of Persuasion to charm everyone. One time I thought I had gone through everyone inside one house and proceeded to pick up everything not nailed down, but suddenly the guards were instantly alerted and the Flaming Fist guys arrived to arrest me. Then I realized that a one freaking cat, A CAT, had called the cops on me as that bloody feline was the only witness around I hand't charmed.

One of my favorite examples of time slipping under urgent circumstances came in Mafia 2, when you're supposed to race to the house and warn someone before it blows up. Countless times I was late and the house blew up the moment time ran out, yet the one time i got there with mere seconds to spare, the old dude decided to invite me in for a conversation despite the house being set to explode at any second.

"Oh yeah, I kicked a squirrel enough times and my intelligence increased by several points"
I died on that part XD

I never played it, but I'm pretty sure Kingdom Come: Deliverance has a mechanic where quests will progress without you if you take too long to do things. I wonder if that'll become more prominent in RPGs in the future. It's pretty immersion-breaking for time limits to not exist on anything.

It is hilarious that the dovahkiin can down like 20 whole cheese wheels and still have the energy to fight

Hey gameranx, can you guys make a video on remasters that need to happen? I would totally love to see the Jak trilogy remastered. Jak X as well.

9:20 it would be a neat idea if some enemies actually ran away once you're lvl is high enough. RuneScape had a good mechanic for this. At a certain lvl certain lvl enemies would stop argo attacking you.

The leveling up bit, dude this is so accurate.

In Fallout New Vegas, you can play caravan with some dude in the starting area (I think he's in a gas station) and earn exp by winning.

Imagine watching some rando dude come into your hideout, fleece you of all your money and possessions all the while seeing his muscles visibly swell before your eyes because he's jacking up his strength stats 🤣

I love the weird time thing. There is just something about letting a character you hate wait for a year in game to do a side quest with you. Specially if you can just walk past them 😂

Always thought it was funny when someone in a town gives you a quest like "go slay this monster that's wreaking destruction on our town!", and this lv50 monster is like 150y away.. Meanwhile everyone is just out and about doing their morning chores without a care in the world

It'd be a cool mechanic for shopkeepers where if you sold them enough items or above average items (weapons, armor etc depending on what they mainly offer) they essentially use it as materials & can offer you stronger/more rare items later on as opposed to only being able to find them based on normal game progression
