So that’s:
The Carpenter Brut cover of “Maniac”
Pharrel’s “Happy”
Green Day’s “Basket Case”
and Britney Spears’ “Toxic”
All mashed together in a song…and it came out perfectly? Whose soul did you have to sell to make that happen?

Not only is Manic a banger and a half, it's also a genius representation of the titular state of mind. Putting Pharrell's "Happy" over the powerfully dark synthwave sound of Carpenter Brut's cover of "Maniac" perfectly encapsulates the feeling of an unnatural, uncontrollable influx of emotion. Throw in samples of Green Day's "Basket Case" to hammer home both the subject's instability during an episode and society's perception of the disorder, and Britney Spears' "Toxic" as a potentially apt descriptor of a manic person's behavior, and you have the audial form of an often overlooked mental disorder. Truly impressive stuff from jazzwave.

(I left this comment on Acai's playthrough of Copywrong but felt it deserved to be here as well)

That's not dropping the bass, that's firing it at the floor with a howitzer.

This one gets me really hard in the gut, I _cannot_ express how masterful it is and how much hype I get out of it. If the Carpenter Brut rip was a bit cleaner I think I'd have had a heart attack the first time around.

Okay, this one is my favourite one so far:
+ Synth Base I can get down to
+ Immediate Japes that Throw me for a Loop
+ Still a Bop

A lot of mashups I hear don't really find a thematic throughline. This album averts that hard. The name of the song (and the description on the clone hero chart) really set you up to hear what you're going for, and by god does this feel like some kind of altered state of mind.
Like, the way the lines in 'Basket Case' cut into each other just a bit too early, like they're echoing from different corners of your mind, and the way 'Happy' is played over such crowded instrumentation, that just, keeps, going, because there *is* no stopping. And the way the applause at the end sounds like it's smothered, as if it was never really there in the first place.
And it does that while still being an absolute jam.

Came in with that sudden drop. It shouldn’t mix, but it it did. That is what the maniac part is all about.

you know jazz has made it in the mashup scene when they’re in the “mashups that shouldn’t work but do” playlist

I've heard some mashups that have no right to work, yet this one takes the cake by a mile.
This is the audio equivalent of getting punched in the mouth and I love it.

This song is a feeling in my mind given audible form. I could never describe anything like this to people without this as a template:

The constant weight of depression and self doubt and self deprecation cut by a sudden, unstoppable wave of pure euphoria that simultaneously heightens and dulls all senses. It is this time where the weight of the world is swept up in the full, unceasing, infinitely dense energy of positivity at the cost of all else. The world changes from a suffocating, blurred wasteland and all I see is a crystal clear spotlight on something that pleases me.

I absolutely love this song. I know mashups are supposed to be funny haha goofy times, but I’ve never had a mashup resonate emotionally with me like this. Just, wow… expertly crafted

I could feel the care and the attention to detail that went into all of the songs on this album, but this one especially resonated with me.

It reminded be a lot of Gloria's level in Psychonauts, where elements of theater are gathered together as symbols of a person's mental state and formed into a representation of manic-depressive disorder. The manic side of that level is so energetic, saccharine, and downright TOXIC that it is clear it represents an unhealthy mental state. Your song does the same with its lyrics, musical style, and timing.
Going from 0 to 100 on that intro drop just feels like the song is coming out of nowhere and is spiraling out of control...like a manic state might. Leaving just the one beat's worth of the drum in right before it kicks in reinforces the idea.

That video game taught me about story-telling through great level design.
This album taught me about story-telling through amazing song mashup skills.

I love that the intro is entirely unedited, it really does just fucking go in.

As someone who has occasional manic episodes this is a good representation of it
