Santa Teresa is a booming beach town on the western side of the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It is a beach, surf, and nature lover’s paradise.

Ian, what is the situation these days re: covid in Costa Rica generally, and Santa Teresa (and similar smallish towns)...i.e., are people worried about distancing and masks, etc.? Thanks for your great work!

omg prices have gone up so much in the last 10 years. 12 years ago i lived in SF for 1500 a month. San Francisco! And I lived in the lower Haight in a beautiful home with roommates. When I went to Santa Teresa, it cost something like $12 or $15 a night at the hostel. Cheap but someone did steal my board shorts off the clothes line.

The roads have improved, but are still a fun challenge to the average tourist. I don't recommend driving at night for those not used to CR roads.

Airbnb is way too expensive. Could a digital nomad find a place like you did? We would just look around for vacancy signs? Is this true for one bedrooms with good wifi?

What would be the best and cheapest way to get from San Jose airport to Santa Teresa?

Thanks for the information. Though after having spent much time there over the last 7 years I think your budget is quit low
