Venus Was Once Like Earth! Then This Event Changed Everything

Venus was once an Earth-like planet. It had an atmosphere similar to ancient Earth, substantial water on its surface, and probably even life at some point in its history. All this sounds impossible because if you look at Venus today, you’ll find quite the opposite. The planet has an atmosphere that’s 96% carbon dioxide. It’s so thick that no sun rays can reach the planet’s surface. The average surface temperature of Venus is 460°C, hot enough to melt lead. The landscape is full of active volcanoes, and to make matters worse, it rains sulphuric acid in its upper atmosphere.

But what went wrong with Venus? How did the planet change to hell from paradise? Finally, and most importantly, is present-day Venus the future of our planet too?

The 44th episode of the Sunday Discovery Series answers all these questions

Actually I believe that the VENUS rotation is it's DOOM. It's hard to cool off when your DAY is longer than your YEAR...

Life is probably quite prevalent in this universe but none of it is everlasting. We're just lucky...so far.

To claim that Venus probably even had life at some point in its history is a bit too much, we know nothing about it.

wow, the bots have certainly hit your site here hard today =/

As rare as it's proving to be for planets to host life it's a bit of a stretch to think our solar system has had 3 such planets. Venus, then Mars and of course Earth.

Venus' major problem is still the Sun. Venus' is just too close to the sun so even without any carbon dioxide it would go runaway before the Sun got to it's present brightness.
The earth itself will reach this state when the Sun brightens additional 10-20% (could be more if Nitrogen gets removed significantly). At current brightness of the Sun the earth needs insane 50000 ppmv of carbon dioxide to go runaway and previously even more (in Paleozoic anything below 1000 caused an ice age).

Did Venus ever have a moon?
Does it have an electromagnetic field like 🌎?

Absolutely agree with Erik, there is ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY NO EVIDENCE EVER that Venus had earthlike conditions.
I am absolutely disgusted that anyone can make such an outlandishly crazy claim.
On the other hand show me the evidence that Venus once had earthlike conditions and I will be ever grateful to you.

Life there could have polluted it beyond repair. We are on the same path.

At 7:15 it looks like a dragon with flames coming out of its mouth.

No.
_No._
A day on Venus is 5382 Earth-Hours long. That's almost a year straight of sunlight on the surface of half of the planet. The Sun-facing side would be ungodly hot and the dark side would be near negatives. One of the reasons Earth temperature is so nice is because we have a fast rotation (day).
Venus also sits outside the Goldilocks Zone, its too close to the sun.

This is certainly a possibility and a somewhat plausible one at that but stating it definitively is a bit much...

If that is true tho, that just proves we're doomed if we keep up the high carbon emissions...

That's why Mars is better for humans

Fix the title. I can't take you seriously with a grammatically incorrect title. "Scientists finally found out where Venus' water went".
I also doubt Venus had life at some point.

The fact that Venus geography is so active may suggest that the planet has been blasted by a small planet or very large asteroid in recent relative history

Too close to the sun from the habitat’s zones

So for u to claim that Venus was different than it is today were u there to back up you’re guessing

So, it wasn't Venusians overdoing it with backyard barbecues and driving SUV's? Who knew?
