The BEST Method for Growing Broccoli Sprouts

**NOTE: getting a LOT of comments about "DUDE, why not heat them at 70C like Rhonda?!" Dr. Patrick did in fact recommend this at one point, but she no longer does it (I don't do it either). The fact is that you need LAB GRADE instrumentation to do this correctly, and you could be losing a LOT of sulforaphane if you just go a couple C over! Not to mention this only works with FRESH sprouts, and I recommend freezing them as we are not going continually. Freezing them increases active SFN on it's own, and combining them with Radish or Rocket sprouts (see below) yields another 100% SFN. Doing both these things (which is what I currently do) yield anywhere from 2-6x SFN! And best of all doesn't take ANY extra time!

DESCRIPTION:
Rhonda Patrick brought a great amount of awareness to this amazing compound, but I think most of the growing methods on youtube (including Rhonda's method) take far too long for what you get in return. With the steps I use you will end up with enough sprouts for several weeks in one easy 3-5 day grow. This isn't groundbreaking stuff, but it took me several iterations to figure out.

This is my first video!

UPDATE: I now add Radish seeds when sprouting. This has recently been shown to increase SFN by 2x and ALSO decrease SFN Nitrile!!

Additional info:
Rhonda Patrick's amazing video on Broccoli and Sulforaphane:

Freezing broccoli sprouts can increase available sulforaphane:

Interview where Dr. Fahey explains that SFN content is strongest in seeds, and decreases as the plant grows:

Perfect video, can't emphasize this enough. Slow enough speech tempo to comprehend everything without pausing and rewinding, music wasn't too loud, video switching between you explaining and showing different phases adds more and not just to be flashy. All is clear and covered in full in under 5 minutes. I wish I hadn't wasted my time with the other videos. Thank you!

Great tip about blending just the sprouts and some water and letting them sit for a while to form the sulforaphane prior to adding anything else. It makes a lot of sense. Much appreciated!

I'm amazed at how quickly your sprouts grow in 3-4 days filling the jars. Mine take about a week but I'm at altitude 7500ft.

Been watching Dr. Patrick for a while and loved her research and advocacy on broccoli sprouts. Just picked up my first batch of sprouts yesterday and can't wait to try. Loved this tutorial, thank you x10!

Thanks for the excellent video. Nice job simplifying the process and boosting the sprout output. My jars were bursting with fresh sprouts in three days.

That's a great idea to freeze sprouts. If they sit around in your refrigerator, they can spoil. Also, Rhonda Patrick has a video on enhancing broccoli sprouts by heating for 10 min. Worthwhile to view in my opinion.

Thank you. Sounds easy enough. Special thanks for explaining that they need to be blended separately and sit a few minutes before adding to a Full-on smoothie. Hadn’t thought of that, but it makes perfect sense.

Thank you for uncomplicating this. I can seem to sprout almost anything except broccoli! It dries out, gets slimy, just does nothing...😮 Putting enough sprouts in the jars has made a huge difference and now, I just have a bag of various sprouts in my freezer for smoothies all the time! Great video.

How does that broccoli ice cream taste like? Do berries mask the smell and the taste of the sprouts and the seeds?

This is the best method I have found to do this. Thanks for sharing with us. When I make my smoothie with blueberries I might add a little moringa, maybe a tsp.

Thank you SO MUCH! I have viewed several videos before yours without much success. Frustrated, I decided to watch one more (yours). I am SO glad that I did. Thank you again!

Thank you so much. I ignored many other videos because they're too long. You answered what I needed to learn in less than 5 minutes, especially the part about using filtered water and the correct way to blend. Much obliged!!

P.S. I subscribed in appreciation.

Thank you so much for a great video.I have seen so many videos and read so much about sprouting broccoli that I was just confused and decided not to try it.
You helped me so much and I loved seeing your cat at the end of the video.

Thank you for such a good set of instructions.
Do the sprouts have to be blended, or can they be added to food as soon as they are ready from being taken out of the freezer?
I am sprouting seeds for my dogs to consume, and I don’t think they would like them blended with water 😬
