This is Ronald Reagan's legacy as governor of California he closed the mental institutions.
When he became president he cut the funding for mental health.
It's time to reopen the mental institutions give these people a place to stay until they can get well

So many homeless it's out of control we lost our humanity there is no way to fix this it so overpowering

A lot of these people have mental health issues now. They probably didn't at first. They might not want an apartment. This shouldn't be.

My son and I came pretty, pretty close to being homeless. I got seriously ill needing dialysis, lost my job, home and car . My soldier son got off the Army to take care of me. My benefits didn't come through yet. What to do ? The only advantage we both had was that DRUGS NEVER played a role in the equation. So both had our wits intact as well as friends and family however far they were. We ate sparingly, went hungry when food pantry allotment were meager. Close to homelessness, I know the feeling of despair. Watching these revived for a moment the empty feeling in the pit of my stomach. Never again ! We've known that wretchedness of utter poverty nobody should experience . Do not forget where you came from so you'll never revisit it.
