YUMMM! My mom was German and that's how she made them except for one small thing, she put a bread crouton in the center of each one and then simmered them in the rouladen gravy that we always had with them.

OMG! I started watching this video and what do I see, a potato presser, it looks exactly like the one my mother (RIP) used to have when I was growing up. I love seeing this kitchen item, many memories. I love potatoes, I will make this recipe for supper. Thanks.

I had this at a local German restaurant, and was looking for a recipe to see what all was in it. To be honest the ones they served looked just like these but strangely had zero flavor not even a potato flavor it was like boiled unsalted flour. These however look to be much better. I'll be making a batch to try. Thanks for the recipe. 👍

Middle of the week? 😮 Make mine much the same. Just like to put a "semmel" in the middle. (Makes them easier to break a part when eating.)

Marta on a Thursday and why so brief? Why only the egg yolks, my mum and Oma were so insistent on that but I use all the egg Marta and can't see any difference. I also add chives or oregano sometimes, makes them nice and herby.

I think I made them wrong. I did not use a high starch potato I just used regular russet potatoes. Also, I did not add that much starch, like potato starch. When I made them, they taste and had the consistency of mashed potatoes formed into balls. They did not seem like dumplings.
Oh well I can always try it again.
