This Could Happen to You
TrustDALE's investigative team addresses a common consumer issue, shows how TrustDALE helped resolve the problem, and offers viewers practical tips to avoid and approach similar situations. When a farmer purchased a riding mower to clear the weeds on his farmer, it cut his mowing time in half. But less than a year after buying the mower, it quit on him. The good news? He had a warranty. The bad news? To use that warranty would cost him hundreds of dollars. TrustDALE got involved to make it right for the farmer.

This is standard practice in the box store market. They sell equipment lines like Cib Cadet, Toro, etc., but all warranty issues are handle by dealers for the equipment lines. You have to get it to the dealer yourself or pay for transport. That's all spelled out in the warranty. If you want better service, buy from your local dealer. They will take much better care of you than Lowe's, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, etc., ever will.

warranty very black and white, mfg. defect or defect in workmanship, does not cover normal wear and tear,
one of the first lines of the story is he uses it to clear brush, it's a finish mower not a bush hog,

Cub Cadet is just the usual MTD equipment.

I have a large yard at the home I just purchased last year (my first own home at 55yo)
My little 23" push mower and my body just can't do it.
I thought about buying a ride on tractor mower, but the prices for them has gotten ridiculous due to the big trend of residential home owners wanting to pay high prices for commercial mowers like the zero turn models to show off..

So i weighed the pros and cons..
Pay a ridiculous amount for a ride on, and if something goes wrong mechanically I have to get it to a shop or pay the cost of pickup and delivery (i dont have a trailer).. then hope they keep to their warranty..
And all the hassle and time involved with all of it
.. or I can pay a local young guy who has the equipment, running a small personal business to cut my lawn 2 times per month.. and he only charges me $70 and i give him a $10 tip.
And I only have this done maybe 1 time the first good month of spring, then 2 times each mo from May or june to Oct .
It helps me, and it helps a young person stay going with his local private business.
So I went with that instead

Ive thought about asking my neighbor if he would be willing to let me use his ride on tractor mower for $20 each time, and I return it with the same amount of gas each time, but it seems like an odd question to ask someone.. 🤔
And I'd want to give the guy i use advanced notice so he can find a new customer to take my place first.
But then, what if I have a falling out with my neighbor or something too? 😂

I see nothing wrong with this. The manufacturer warrants the product it made, not the store. The store just sells it. And seriously, loading a mower into a pickup or onto a trailer and driving a short twenty mile distance? I grew up in the country and twenty miles was nothing. You can do it in twenty minutes or so. I just don't see the problem here.
