SHELBY COUNTY, TN -
(WMC) - Police chased a car on Highway 51 through roadblocks and intersections toward Millington for nearly 30 minutes Thursday night.
After a traffic stop near Raleigh-Millington Road, the suspect tried to get away and almost hit a Shelby County deputy in his effort.
Deputies followed the car for six to seven miles and then stopped when it became dangerous to the public.
A little while later, Millington police found the car and chased it. The driver went northbound on the highway and turned around driving into oncoming traffic in attempt to lose police.
The car nearly hit other cars and at least two patrol cars were struck. Then the wanted driver turned back around going northbound.
By this time, the driver's car was not holding up as a flat tire wildly sparked.
An undercover, black vehicle finally bumped into the car, pushing it into a parking lot in front of Martin Auto Sales.
The driver did not surrender without a fight once he was trapped. Eventually, he was taken into custody near Navy Road. No one was badly injured.
The man arrested was possibly wanted for a misdemeanor traffic warrant from Bartlett, and he will now be facing more charges. He was sent to Regional Medical Center.
