Have you read anything else by him? This is by far his most famous book, thanks to the movie (and I'm sorry, but Binoche > Olin), but I preferred most of the others that he wrote in Czech (I can't say that about any of his later novels, written in French). According to me, Immortality is Kundera's masterpiece.
