KDE Plasma 5.24 Beta Discussion

As is traditional, today we are bringing you the testing version of KDE’s Plasma 5.24. Plasma 5.24 Beta is aimed at testers, developers, and bug-hunters.

To help KDE developers iron out bugs and solve issues, install Plasma 5.24 Beta and test run the features listed below. Please report bugs to our bug tracker.

The final version of Plasma 5.24 will become available for the general public on the 8th of February.

DISCLAIMER: This release contains untested and unstable software. Do not use in a production environment and do not use as your daily work environment. You risk crashes and loss of data.

On icons getting darker on colour scheme change, it's not a usability decision but a technical limitation owing to how accent colours are pulled from the colour scheme. In Plasma 5.25 icons are getting a refresh, and they will not have this issue as the pieces to enable it are now in place.

What would be nice is to implement KIO abstraction for GTK apps like GVS does, on KDE I just can't browse my network folders with GIMP or QGIS as an example, and that really is an efficiency nightmare!

I use a laptop but I don't feel that the windows menu takes that much space, it allows for fewer clicks but if the idea is to reduce space why not merge the top bar where the name of the app and the maximize buttons are and the other menus. That bar takes a lot of space and has very limited options and info

KDE still is powerful but need a more up to date theme. Deepin is nailling it.

Does it have one setting for turn off system sounds? I'm flabbergasted I could not find THAT basic setting in a DE literally over bloated in system settings

The meta+w opens firefox for me, will this key overlap with the overview when it comes out?

Same megaton of disorganized settings, and still looks like Windows crap.
