I agree that PTSD from adverse childhood experiences should be addressed as much if not more with military recruiting. As already stated in a comment, many young people join the military with unprocessed childhood trauma that compounds the trauma they experience as adults in the military. The military that I knew did not do the best job of screening recruits for childhood trauma. Unfortunately the "just a number" applied in most situations. And yes, many young people from abusive homes joined and still join the military under false pretenses; however, they also were and still are looking for a way out of a bad situation. I hope the military understands this phenomena better today than yesterday.

Veteran Interpersonal Skills Training
VIPT is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on relieving symptoms by improving interpersonal functioning. It addresses current problems and relationships rather than childhood or developmental issues. Therapists are active, non-neutral, supportive and hopeful, and they offer options for change.

AND

Veterans PTSD Group Therapy Group therapy is about sharing your experience in a safe and supportive setting. Veterans can talk about their issues with people who are — or have been — in similar situations. The act of sharing and listening to other people’s experiences, and the feeling of being understood by others, is a powerful treatment.
“When you have other people who have been through the same things you’ve been through, and who have dealt with them in all different kinds of ways, it helps you in immeasurable ways, ”

It's so disturbing that PTSD/ CPTSD is most just known for veterans. Theres so many victims out there that have gone through trauma & they dont get the recognition. Why it triggered me even more is because I have CPTSD I & many other have been put in homes with abuse from our own parents from a young age we diddnt have a choice that's the definition of no way out. I had non stop narcissist abuse as well as physical domestic violence. Compared to grown fully developed men that chose to go to war knowing exactly what the consequences would be. They had the choice on a matured state of mind when so many children are abused not knowing right from wrong. These men are scared ?? Cause they went off the chart somewhere far from home to basically be exposed to all of that. How about being scared in your own home where your supposed to feel safe, with parents that were nothing but abusive handlers. Or my now friend I used to go to therapy with got raped by family member for a period of time she diddnt ask for that, I diddnt ask for these parents but these grown men with actual homes made that decision for themselves I feel no compassion for that. They are adults putting themselves under those conditions. & for them to leave their home / family abandon them just to go through that pain, I have no respect for people that choose something over their family. Theres billions of people in this world, u only get one family & they leave their good home to go to knowingly corrupt land ... no I dont feel bad, i feel bad for the family they left at home so they can just take u back & now accept someone that is traumatized cause energy transfers they also putting that on their family's just no. I cannot find a story on ptsd without an old veteran, theres children out there not asking for this they need recognition. Yes this was a long statement I'm passionate about it is all. With all due respect
