Mathieu van der Poel had an incredible mountain bike season this year.
He was the winner of the Belgian MTB Challenge, 5 World Cup Short-tracks, 4 World Cup Cross-country races and European Champion Cross-country.

I have seen Mathieu in cyclocross, cycling and MTB... He is like the male version of Marianne Vos. I think if he really wants, he can be world champion in all those diciplines. Like last year he didn't even participate is all the MTB races and come very close to win it, if he would compete in every race. He is a legend and i do appreciate every accomplishment he achieves in his career. I am from Belgium, but Mathieu is just someone you have to enjoy watching every second when you can. Great sportsman and i think he is a great man in general!

Mountain Biker's worst nightmare. Watching him dominate Matteo Trentin in a 10 day stage race, and knowing how he rides cross and MTB at the same time is quite scary. He'll only get better. The gaps to his rivals will only get bigger.
