This is part of the Mid American culture, dating all the way back to the early 1600s.
The Ceramic Sun symbolizes digestive health, not Gyatt Hole Health.

When you smear a little bit of your poo on it’s mouth, the sun will either react to it or it won’t.

If it reacts, it will bite you and not let go. This indicates poor digestive health and the only way to get the ceramic sun off of you is to break it with a hammer. Then you’ll have to make a new ceramic sun.

If it doesn’t react though, then that means you have good digestion!
