The message from the thumping victories of BJP in the Hindi heartland is loud and clear. There are no takers for the secular ideology of the Congress which is trapped in a century old ideological baggage. This means that a new Challenger is required to take on BJP at the national level. It's important to have a strong opposition lest BJP too should fall into the kind of arrogance and complacency that became the hallmark of the Grand Old Party when Indira Gandhi was at the helm.
