Didn't want to spend a ton of time on this, but thought I'd share what I learned from using a heat gun to refinish a Fender Standard Stratocaster from 2001. The poly on this guitar had started to crack and chip off so I decided to remove all of it and refinish with a Danish Oil. It only took a couple of days and no more than 10 hours.

I did that to a Squier Classic Vibe Tele and then stained it purple with leather dye, then recoated it gloss with Wipe On Poly. The purple is see-through, and I’m pleased how the pine body shows through.

I have a Parker classic fly and under the poly the mahogany is leeching moisture....I presume....and staining the wood and making the poly cloudy. Very tempted to strip it and get a professional refinish when funds allow

This is so much faster than when I took the finish off of my beat up Jaguar, and not just because it's sped up.
