New MMORPGs Launching in April 2024 | What MMO Should You Play?
Sauce:

The state of the MMO genre leaves a lot to be desired. The Riot MMO was confirmed to be undergoing a complete overhaul, with the devs stating they're going to go silent for the next several years. ArcheAge 2 was delayed into 2025 or beyond. Ashes of Creation is still Alpha testing. Blue Protocol and Throne & Liberty have been out for months in their own countries with no release in sight for Global.
What do we have to look forward to right now? MMORPGs that already exist. And while you could always just resub to WoW or Final Fantasy XIV, replay the game for the umpteenth time, many of you are as big a fan of Anime games as I am, which is why you're looking for an Anime MMO to jump into.
Today, we're going to discuss the only Anime MMOs worth playing in 2024, because the last time I did a video like this was back in 2021, and the MMO genre - more specifically, the Anime MMO landscape has changed quite significantly.

MMOs included in this video:

in the Temtem section you said "its a great alternative if you look for a free MMO" while yes it doesnt have a subscription it still comes with a 45 Euro Pricetag, its also in maintenance mode since the devs want to develop the Temtem Vampire Survivors Game, the steam reviews are mostly negative because of it.

As a veteran mabinogi player I'll give my review on this game. (Credentials: Played on and off since 2010. I did all of the content, total level 60k+)

It has everything u want from an mmoprg like group dungeoning, item drops, classes, etc. In it's current state it's extremely beginner friendly, giving out items, upgrades, and other bonuses like hotcakes to beginners.

Overall the aesthetics are very animeish, and you don't even have to do the combat. We call some player "fashionogis" cuz they only work to make money to buy fashionable gear, inwhich there's ways to make money on this game without combat. The greatest pro is the amount shear number of skills and playstyles that exists. There's like 30~ classes each with 10-20 skills. And how you're not locked into 1 class, you can use all of the skills from any class at any time.

Some downsides are that drop rates are quite low and we suffer from a low player base. If good events aren't on, not a lot of people are playing, but if there's good events all of the channels are full. It's like a small player base of dedicated veteran players.

It would take ~1 year to get to the start of end game ish stuff. I'll recommend it to you if you enjoy constant progression thru grinding skills/items, and if u don't mind playing alone most of the time!

Glad you included ToF. It is fun to chill if you don't want to compete with whales. There is even supposedly scaled pvp in this game. We need more like this, that is why it should be supported imo. I like being able to play with others in a game like this.

Ok, real talk over here... Am I too far gone down the degen path to have seen a very striking resemblence to a certain animation and character at 1:19 on the far right?

I am playing Astral Tale, the relaunch of Twin Saga and am enjoying it. It is a good casual MMO.

How is there still not a proper Anime MMORPG with an extensive character creator, like in BDO, that doesn't look absolutely dogshit?
Instead, all they develop nowadays are gacha games.

I tried ToF x eva. It is still pretty fun to play even tho how trash it can be. Besides, the community are also very helpful compared to other anime gacha mmo currently.

I wish most of them were possible to play outside Steam.

recently went back to try DFO, and TOS is one i had forgotten about but occasionally try to go back to and check on so i'll probably check that out again at some point. maple story is just weird af now, i literally do not even understand going through the character creation process since there are a couple classes and 20-30 characters? i picked some random character and was doing absurds amount of damage, felt like i was playing on a private server. if i ever go back to it it probably WOULD be a private server with an older version of the game that actually focused on class progression

i know this bad take but soulworker and Closers used to be my faves games with how flashy their attacks were. hear me out. im a sucker fast and flashy moves but after playing bother for 2+ years each i learnt how horrifically boring it got. i get the grind can be a burnout but even after reaching the end game it left a feeling of nothing to do but mid-max and help other players which to be expected but doing that she be kinda fun right?

Soulworker honestly has you run 4 different dungeon daily after maxing our your level. and its all hack and slash with nothing to shake up its playstyle. the community is nice as ever but waiting like 3 years for a new raid just waste another year collecting its resources to max out again and repeat the same dungeon had me dead.

Closers i had a longer time and fun playing it since it was an amazing community, it had several boss, mechanics, learning curves, and engagement. at the end of the day it is really just learn what kills you and perfect evade it but their more to it at times that a single message cant explain. what sucks though was having to reach mid game all by yourself. like you can go in normal dungeons with friends, only bosses stages for the most part. not to mention in a lot of content your going to be carried for a time. it really wears you down especially when you really new
