I was waiting for some fried eggs in the forge at the end LOL. Great project, it looks like old days woodsmans skillet! Thanks for the video!

Would bending the hinge on a parallel to the bottom of the pan change the handle to a degree to make it objectionable? It would make the pan pack flatter. I might have to play with wire and a pan and see if that effects it. I'm trying to think of a workable locking mechanism to lock the handle in place. The easiest I can think of is a bolt and wing nut, so you could tip the hot pan and not have the pan swing on the hinge where you don't wish it. You're good at turning concepts into useful objects, keep up the good work.

Hi Denis,

I don't know if you take requests but i was wondering if you could possibly make a tutorial on how to make a replacement spring for a post vice, i have a couple of them and all they need are springs but i would prefer to do it right. In many ways the blacksmiths of you tube are my teachers along with some very old literature on the trade but it seems like no one has made a decent step by step how to on how to make them and heat treat them correctly. So if you could i would really appreciate it.

Thanks again for the great videos.

Looks great, nice video, I found you through another YouTube video by Chandler Dickinson. I've subscribed, looking forward to more.

Maybe I'm hallucinating but at one point I saw a hell of an angry face in the bottom of that pan!

Hi,

This is a really interesting video, thank you, I have never really thought of how cooking implements were ever made centuries ago, now I know! It also makes sense of the huge and very thick pans seen in old paintings.

Take care

Good work! I saw another fellow try this with much less success. I think your method of small gradual change is the difference. Just one question, could this pan be formed by working the outside?

Hey, Denis! I was curious, at around 5:09 you start talking about putting finish on the pan and choosing not to do it b/c you weren't planning on using it. Were you referencing something that would be done for aesthetic and public display or something that should be done if you wanted to cook with the pan? Just curious. As always, thank you for your great videos!

I have never done any sheet metal work, but would love to give this a try. Are there any must have tools to do the job?
