The mom in this segment was both the scariest and funniest part of this movie for me.

The nostalgic upbeat 80’s-90’s game show vibe this segment portrays before it turns dark is so frighteningly disturbing.

I was already familiar with that voice, I'm glad that VHS is still alive in 2022.

Dude this one was the most 90s segment ever. The games shows like this were awesome and I always wished I could compete.

If you haven’t seen 99 yet, THIS was hands down the best and craziest segment in the film. It’s disturbing, funny, original and just bonkers.

It's segments like these that give me immense faith in the future of this series. As inconsistent as this film was overall, strides are being made toward an entry to this series that we can truly call a great film.

This was the most disturbing segment by far, for me.
Big bravo on this one! xD
And I don't talk about he kidnapping afterwards and all : but just the show itself.
Filmed stuff meant for entertainment, but going really wrong while everyone try to act like it's fun and keep rolling is just a crazy disturbing trigger for me.

There's a lot of well-known stories about this or that episode of a famous real TV shows going awok, with sexual assaults, serious injuries (when not death, in some sad occasions), or psychological assaults, but "the show must go on, always".

Like Wipeout insane stuff. That's just modern day Ozzy's Dungeon.
Everyone's said "it's ok to air people breaking their bones and getting serious head concussions alright."

And that's only the stuff that came out to light and air.
I don't imagine what episodes were dropped out, here and there, because of some bigger incidents.
So, yeah, when there's money involved, a production behind, a public, some camera shooting, and a colorful and "it's fun!" paintjob over it all, things go way beyond believable.
Nightmare fuel, for me. xD
I wouldn't have been able to stomach this segment if it was just about a deranged kids show going on and on.
Thank god for the funny kidnapping and eldritch goofyness after the first part xD

I just LOVE how Flying Lotus and Zoe Cooper's segment on V/H/S/99 parodies all of the game shows produced and aired by Nickelodeon in the 1990s (even though I was born in 2004) with a disturbing horror twist thrown in. Like, we already have lots of horror media centered about children's television like Candle Cove and many fan creepypastas like the SpongeBob SquarePants bootleg episode, The Amazing World of Gumball's "The Grieving" and the alleged lost episode of Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy (which I watched as a kid myself) and this is a proud new member in this horror sub-canon! I expect more directorial work from Steven Ellison in the future! He is a TRUE cinematic and auditory/music visionary!

RIP to Sonya Eddy, the woman who played Donna's mother. Her and Steven Ogg acted tremendously together here.

Never really cared too much about the V/H/S series, but this and the other trailer about the band has caught my interest. Can't wait to watch!
