Every mom who has taught their kids to read knows that face. 😂 But then it is so rewarding when it clicks and they start really reading! We had a similar experience with the teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons and found teach your child to read in 20 lessons. The lessons are longer so we just did one or two pages at a time but the content was more manageable for early readers. Not such long readings.

We were having this issue with 100 Easy Lessons as well. My some was 1st grade and we had been working on it slowly for 2 years but got really stuck a little more than half way through. So this year I bought Logic of English and even though it is a very sit next to your child type of curriculum, it is very thorough and simple and covers all of L.A. it's improved his reading skills tremendously! I think we'll do this same curriculum next year and then move on to something else. At least that's my plan as of now.💐

Wesley!!! You’re doing amazing! Reading and subtraction ❤ How is he that big?! I remember reading Bob books with my oldest. It’s so exciting (and at times painstaking 😜) to hear them reading.

You’re such a great teacher and mom to your kids. Since you’re also your kids teacher, do you ever mess up the two and act like their teacher when it’s time to be their mom or vice versus? Hi, Julie! You have so inspired me to switch our curriculum up this coming school year, and I've been binge watching all you homeschool vlogs! I'm going to purchase Gather Round but was wondering how many units to buy. We usually shoot for 160-180 school days, so when I do the math, I should need 8ish units, but then I heard your say that you do 4-5 units in a year. Your advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

I was a music teacher for 36 years and then I started subbing. I was subbing in 2nd grade and they were doing subtraction and they were doing this new system and I could not figure out how to do this way. I had to ask another student to help the student out.
