THE BEST THING FROM THIS RELEASE are the DEMOS and OUTTAKES...by far!

I'm staying with my 1970 vinyl. You echo a lot of my reactions to the 50th, especially the way George's vocals seem to be separated from the tracks. Thanks for your thoughts.

Bobby Whitlock said it is just a cash cow and sonically pure BS.

Just goes to show Phil Spectors genius. People like to judge him on what happened much later in his life but back in the day he was brilliant at what he did. Producers don't just mix the recordings they make the recordings! It's revisionism at the end of the day and an attempt to cash in. Perhaps a new remaster should have been included along with the remix so people can make up their own minds?!

Thanks for telling the truth, I was tempted to get it but think I'll source an original copy.

i hate remixes, the classic records from back in the day were beloved for a reason . i always stick with the original mixes, after many years of absorbing those mixes anything different in a remix just sounds weird.

Whitlock is apoplectic after hearing the vinyl. His remark is that it sounds like it was mixed by teenagers in their bedroom.

DUDE!!!!....THEY MURDERED"Beware of Darkness" is lost the emotional punch because of what they did to the guitars and the volume levels of the different instruments and George's vogels are screwed

I should add something to the discussion. Years ago... like 50 years ago before I became a musician and eventually developed my ear for music, I wouldn’t care very much, whether a good song coming thru a tiny transistor radio;something that you could whistle.. I wouldn’t care bur even then I used to build and expand my sound system to experience the individual players etc.. it’s a crap mix. Sure to each his own but it depends on how you experience music and what you’re level of understanding is in the field of sounds

2010 high resolution download version seems to be the way to go. It's essentially a flat transfer of the original master tapes and has excellent clarity and dynamic range. It was only available for a limited time from the George Harrison website and was eventually replaced by the 2014 remastered version, and now by this 50th anniversary remix, so you have to do some digging into "unofficial" channels if you want to get a copy of it today.

Bobby Whitlock is horrified by the 50th tracks. Myself, I have two original sets so I'm not interested in an overpriced, marketing oriented remake of what was what George created with Phil Specter.

After watching your video, i compared my original 70s ATPM and your favourite 50th anniversary. I agree with you about the lack of character with the new version and the more alive 70 s version. Yes i agree, the 50th anniversary is DEAD, its not alive, and its just NOT THERE. I did hear the Piano on my left speaker, but it was faint.
Unfortunately the 70 s sounds overall tinny and treably and needed sound ajustment, but as i said:

ITS ALIVE

First thing I noticed was the lack of presence of percussions like tambourines, cymbals etc. It's like it was stripped off the music. It sounded like I was listening with cotton in my ears. Vocals and bass were moved forward but the music felt like I had a blanket over my speakers.

30 seconds in the I'd have you anytime I already knew it was going to be a bad trip. I took your word for it pause the video&jumped over to listen to it prior to watching. They screwed it up

Original is better! Period! Was listening to original last night, George is in the middle of the mix, surrounded by all the great instruments, George is not pushed up front and instruments pushed in background like new mix, in the original he is surrounded by beautiful music.
