Nuclear weapons and nuclear war is something that remains a lingering threat at all scales of geopolitics. While global conflict has continued, so has commitment to nuclear disarmament, with efforts like the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). However, as the world increasingly destabilises, this is rapidly reversing.

In this video l am joined by Ankit Panda - Stanton Senior Fellow in the Nuclear Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and expert on the Indo-Pacific. We discuss the Russia-North Korea strategic partnership, impact for nuclear development, including in South Korea and Japan. I ask Ankit about the changing dynamics of great power consensus on nonproliferation and the impact on the global nuclear order, such as the lack of crisis communications between China and the US. We also touch on India's nuclear strategy and the relevance of Taiwan.
