I had a professor who made us write our essays by hand in class. I hated it, but it was honestly for the best. A lot of students actually learned how to write, spell, read better, recognize mistakes, and how to organize their thoughts. And only one kid failed the class.

It’s wise to take Editor’s suggestions with a grain of salt. As a former copy editor for my college’s newspaper, I have definitely seen some bad suggestions come out of it.

This reminds me of back when I was teaching in Thailand.
A Canadian/ Thai student was sent to a top-tier school in Thailand to improve his 'Thainess' (to quote his Mother).
He was called into the Teachers office and the teacher demanded to know "Why have you written an original article? Everyone else cuts/ pastes Google. Now I have to read and grade it!"
Apparently he hopped straight back on a plane to Canada.
