CANON R5 Mark II – Their Best One Yet?

In this video I share my initial impressions after using the R5 mk II professionally over the last few months. I also show you plenty of photo and video examples.

The Mark II is really a great camera. For the price, all that's really missing is a 9 million pixel viewfinder like in the R1, a tilt-and-flip screen for better handling, and an open mount for Sigma lenses. :D

Just got mine a week ago, and, a nice RF lens, 28-70 F2, and SO much look forward to my upgrade from a 5D mk 3 . I shoot semi pro, mostly stills, event, portrait, travel, landscape, and occasionally sports. I have several EF L lenses, and have been sampling images with the EF adapter, with my 24-70 2.8 IS L ii, and 70-200 2.8 EF. So far, I’m very impressed with the images, and, am blown away with the capabilities of this camera over all the cameras I’ve used ( Canon ) over the past 20 years . I started with a 5D, then a 7D, then a 5D mk 3, now, this model. I’m also really looking forward to seeing, capturing video. Something I never put a lot of effort into with the DSLR models of many years ago . Thank you for the great video

Using the R5 II with the 600 f11 lens for birding, recording 8k 60p video. That lens is such a banger, a feather compared to other telephoto lenses with awesome quality. I also got the Canon 50 1.4 VCM and a 7Artisans 9mm to shotgun the focal range in three prime lenses lol

In terms of photography image quality, does the R6ii produce comparable result to the R5 II or is there night and day difference?

Totally agree, had mine now for about a month and still have my original R5. My R6 now has become the backup body as the R5 & R5II are on the hip the whole time. The R5 is so good for 95% of use cases, that it's hard to make a case that your images will be noticeably better. The functionality is better, the ease of use is better the auto focus is amazing so these are the things that I have enjoyed, but don't think your images will be better as you won't notice that hardly at all, if you are a videographer, you will notice the difference for sure. Love what Canon are doing with their new glass too albeit about time! R6III looks like it will be a great camera too.👍

R5C has oversampled 4k60, the R5ii uses line skipping. That's basically it. If you're shooting action or weddings having slow mo always available is nice. Though arguably Clog2 more than compensates for that.

Open gate and litlle less wobble on the wide end with stabilisation and it was perfect.

Currently Im still using my Canon 5D Mark IV paired with the 35, 85 f/1.4 Art Sigma series & the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro.

I’d love to upgrade to the R5II, but I fear by the time I can afford to, there will be something better on the horizon. The new mirrorless AF systems are beyond better than the 5DIV!

Trying to be some kind of sports photographer, coming from an Sony A7 IV, this thing makes me so happy at 20/30 fps at 45MP.

It's their best one yet but it could be better. Still a few nitpicky flaws. Hopefully the R1X will be the real best one.
