Colossus back, Engage and Harp at 3. TOSS format is at full power now.

konami when they make generic synchro monsters and suddenly people start playing them in non synchro decks: did we do an opsy?

Issue is that both colossus and protos are pretty generic since Cupid pitch can get nemeses corridor who turns into colossus, and infernal flame banshee searches nemeses flag who can search protos

They just made having Crossout in hand 100x better it’s the only out to nib now because you can hold ur imperm for apo when you use nib eff

Baronne does highlight the problem with how cards are printed in the TCG, for many baronne is finally cheap and it gets banned. Especially cards that are this good and destined to be hit should be affordable from the beginning.

No direct fire hit is pretty crazy to me, and maybe it also mean since appo isnt on here due to rarity, it means colossus and protos in rarity.

Baronne and Savage don't need a ban, just an errata to require Fleur Synchron and a Rokket tuner, respectively. They pointlessly errata Goyo Guardian back in the day in a similar way. They are only broken because most decks can make them.

Interesting direction with baronne and savage getting banned, after RC reprint too. Soon appolousa and IP too after reprint in RC lol.

Talents just became the best generic card in the game

The main issue I had with the format was not that it was tier zero, but that you had to be able to run 18 hand traps or your deck wasn't viable. The gameplay wasn't fun and it enabled a bunch of degenerate decks like Kashtira + 21 hand traps and (soon) Tenpai with 24 handtraps as well as stun. If We can get out of that kind of format, a lot of those decks will fall to the wayside and the format will be more engaging and allow more creativity. Snake Eye is a strong deck, and FKing snake eye barely lost anything, but that doesn't mean deckbuilding for the format is completely unchanged.

I think Baronne and Savage together being gone and essentially assassinating all possibilities of a deck having an omni-negate to back up the rest of their stuff is giant. This lowkey kind of kneecaps an entire PILLAR of the modern game. If you look at the past year or two or even three of the game, you could divide decks into one of three decks:

- Turbo Baronne Piles AKA decks that create a wall of negates if they go first that requires you dedicate blow out cards into your main and side deck to stop them

- Backrow/Spell & Trap Control Piles AKA decks that require you play backrow removal in your side deck at least

- The Midrange Grind AKA decks that use tons of card advantage and resilience in exchange for lower OTK potential and/or going first raw strength to rebound easily from interaction

With this, that first pillar is absolute punched right in the stomach. Not only does a Nibiru probably become a major threat nearly ALL the time to them, but this also means a ton of Spell board breakers now might just do the trick. Legit, you might could justify running Dark Hole now, although more likely in modern Yugioh we are more talking Triple Tactics Talents, Change of Heart, and Lightning Storm.

And a notable part is also that, mostly, those end boards are going to be smaller. A massive strength of Baronne and Savage is they were 3000 ATK negates, meaning absolutely no Normal Summon or similar at the start of your turn, ignoring extreme crap, could walk over them. The opponent ends on an Apo, Herald, or similarly sized monster? Let me show you my friend I like to call “Special Summon Fenrir/Pank”.

This is a massive change for the game in terms of the kinds of cards you are required to run. While every deck can safely run Nibiru now to fight combo piles, you also don’t necessarily NEED Nibiru against some of them anymore. A good Dark Hole or Triple Tactics Talents might just do the same thing if not better.

I just wanna take a moment to say that any 2 level 4's searches Protos (Infernal Flame Banshee into Nemeses Flag). Probably not gonna do much outside of swoswo, just like Cupid Pitch into Corridor into Collossus in MD, but since combo decks lost Baronne and Savage maybe they'll now do this...
also Wakaushi is a one card synchro 5 or rank 4, only one banished card and boom you can either go Protos or Collossus basically💀

conclusion: I think this is S C A R Y

This is a great banlist in the alternate universe where Synchro decks have been getting powerful, useful boss monsters for the past 4 years, but in this universe it just means every Synchro deck from the past four years and beyond are going to have to watch as Konami drags their fucking feet trying to make decent archetypal boss monsters for the next several years.

Once the high of the Baronne ban wears off on this community I hope people are clear-eyed enough to understand how bad this could be for the years going forward. The OCG hasn't banned these cards, and unless they do, Synchro strategies are about to become stone-brick useless because the people in charge of making the cards will continue to assume Baronne and Borreload are things you can make when designing.

Yeah, it makes Snake Eye's board less frustrating, which is pretty objectively a good thing. Now let's see if they can actually design a fucking card game in the years to come.

Your perspective on the latest ban list is definitely the most interesting and in a more focused perspective on each hit.

The Forbidden Hits are definitely big and Summon Limit was way too excessive to be in the format.

I like the perspective you gave on the concept of being Trade-Offs when seeing what was limited. I also agree that seeing Anti-Spell getting hit alongside Summon Limit is a good trade off for stuff like Protos and Colossus.

Good reasoning for the Chicken Game limit too. I also think it’s in a good spot being only at 1 copy for the reasons Josh explained.

Semi-limits are okay and the unlimited cards are exciting. Malicious was fine at 2, but we will see how 3 copies will do.

I like seeing Engage being at full power and I’m excited to see how the Sky Striker Engine/Decks will do for more exciting interactions.

Harp horror and Terrortop are good to see unlimited too.

Good list overall. Maybe they could’ve hit Wanted to 1 and Snake-Eyes Ash to 2, but good hits.

Colossus being splashed everywhere because of corridor is gonna be painful

Now Yubel is the only meta deck that I can think off that have access to generic omni negate (the new rank 10 Wyrm)

26:06 considering that it's implied the OCG says "yay nay" to the lists we make (Grass and Mine have been mentioned to be asked to be banned but then OCG said *no*).
Then they approved this.

I was extremely happy with the list because the banning of cards like BSD and Barone indicates a very nice direction for the game. They’re basically 2/3 poster children for unbreakable boards, and banning them means that Konami are trying to move away from that style of play, at least in the TCG.
