A short film about Architecture and the project Exeliosis. A residential project that has been selected by the Greek Institute of Architecture, for the 10nth Biennale of Young Greek Architects (under 45).

The project is designed for two closely connected families who wanted to get rid of the burden of modern urban life by creating a space where they can go on vacation and get some rest.
Coming from an intensely urban center abroad, they choose a special site at the entrance of the Gulf of Yera in Lesvos Island (Greece) and decide to create the proper conditions to inhabit the place with its specific landscape. The property, with an area of 35 acres, has an isolated coastal front, interesting vegetation (mainly olive trees and native shrubs) and a variety of natural terrain. The main design principle was the connection of the new constructions with the specific place. For this reason, architects use pure prismatic forms from load – bearing masonry, a characteristic of the surrounding countryside buildings (farmhouses, stock – farming facilities etc.).

The story of the film describes a woman's experience living in the nature that is her home, in a poetic way. It’s a dialogue of architecture with nature and the human soul. It shows how the environment can inspire and give humans a feeling of harmony redefining their spacetime.
The reconciliation with nature is like an atonement of the soul, hence the title of the film (Exeliosis is a paraphrase of the Greek word for the atonement).

Architecture converses with nature, man returns to nature. The result “atones” him from his
complicated modern life. The musical element in the film symbolizes the way in which architecture together with nature compose a space that truly becomes our sanctuary.
