New episode every 1st of the month.
As another decade has passed us, it is important to decide on whether to resume past policies, continue current ones, or to redirect our resources and shift our priorities for the next decade. As was alluded to in the previous episode about the Canadian intelligence community’s future priorities, many have been calling for the intelligence community to shift its focus and resources towards countering right-wing terrorism. In the US context, contrary to the Canadian context, these voices are correct. This episode will argue that U.S. intelligence’s counterterrorism resources and priorities should be shifted from Islamic terrorism towards right-wing terrorism. I will also briefly mention how more resources should be given to countering left-wing terrorism, which includes ecological terrorism, and to counterintelligence and counterproliferation efforts. I will end by proposing methods that may be used to respond to and prevent these growing and enduring threats.
